Many NJ Wing members were recognized for their service and achievements at an annual conference held at Fort Dix on March 29. Interim national commander Brig. Gen. Amy S. Courter joined with wing commander Col Robert McCabe and Northeast Region commander Col Robert Diduch in congratulating the awardees.

Ground Team Member Of The Year -- Capt Kevin Barstow, NJ009 Cape May County Composite Sq and 1st Lt William Pittenger, NJ076 Group 223. The competition for this award was intense. The committee has chosen two members to receive this award: Capt Kevin Barstow and 1st Lt Bill Pittenger. Both have qualified for this award. The ground team member of the year is a dedicated person who when given a mission is happy to receive it. Getting ground teams together for the mission is done in a quick manner. Within 15 minutes of getting a call from an incident commander, there is a reply with the names of persons who will participate in the missions. Leadership is provided to the team and they maintain continual contact with IC on the progress of the mission. When not on missions there is training of the squadron membership. They also invite members from other squadrons in the group for training.
